HEALTHY SCHOOLS

At Nettlebed School, we are committed to maintaining and improving the health of your child. We are supported by the School Nurse, the School Health Service and local doctors.  Our staff are all trained in first aid and receive professional advice on particular health issues relating to children in the school.
We welcome close co-operation with your child's G.P. and the Primary Health Care Team in caring for health needs.  Teachers, School Nurse and Parents meet together to draw up a written care plan for any condition requiring long term care or treatment.
When it is essential for medicine to be given at school, the office staff will be happy to discuss how this can be arranged.  No medicine can be administered without written instructions from the parent / carer.  The local doctor's surgery is close by and provides immediate care and support in emergencies.

School Meals
The meal service is provided by the county caterer “Food for Thought” and the children can select which days they will be staying for school lunch. We encourage all our children to have a hot school lunch as we know they will perform better in the afternoon if they have eaten a nutritious, well-balanced meal, however, some children prefer to bring in a packed lunch.

Please follow this link (Food for Thought School Menu) or click on the images left to open a new browser window showing an online, current menu. Copies of the menu are also available from the school.

A hot two-course midday meal is provided at a cost of £1.95 and parents are welcome toeat with their children for £2.60 (please book in advance). A vegetarian option is always available on request.  We would like all our children to join in with this “family meal”.

Our school meals are all cooked on the premises from fresh, additive-free ingredients. Where possible, ingredients are sourced locally.
